ABOUT SportsAbility

SportsAbility enhances the lives of people with disabilities by promoting active living and  providing first-hand access to resources and activities designed to encourage participation regardless of age or ability level. People are able to try everything from sit water-skiing to rock wall climbing, martial arts and much more!

Participants of all abilities learn about the value of recreation and active leisure for everyone – especially people with disabilities. People discover the latest in equipment, trends, and resources. SportsAbility provides an opportunity for people to network with people with disabilities, resource providers, and community organizations. There is NO CHARGE to participants thanks to our generous sponsors.

 

Opening Ceremonies and Miracle Sports – FREEboy playing baseball

Day 1 – Miracle Field at Messer Park

Attendees join in the excitement of Miracle Sports!!
The day includes interactive play between the audience, baseball teams and FSU athletes. Attendees have the opportunity to try their hand at baseball on the Miracle Field!

RESOURCE EXPO AND INDOOR ACTIVITIES – FREE

Day 2
444 Appleyard Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32304
10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Attendees are encouraged and welcome to learn about new products and try fun activities!

 

 

Information booths on the latest in products, active leisure programs and services for people with disabilities HANDS-ON ACTIVE LEISURE OPPORTUNITIES, such as:
  • Adaptive Golf
  • Tennis
  • Basketball
  • Martial Arts
  • Laser Target Shooting
  • Interactive Fishing Simulator
  • Disc Golf
  • Therapeutic Recreation Activities provided by TCC

Food options: Subway Sandwiches are provided for exhibitors and performers only. They will be available for purchase until supply lasts. There is also a food court next to the TCC Lifetime Sports Complex.

Outdoor Day – FREE

Day 3 Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park
10:00 am to 3:00 pm


Parking: You may park at Maclay School (3737 N Meridian Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32312)

There will be an accessible shuttle bus provided by Big Bend Transit taking people back and forth to Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park. The bus from Maclay School to Maclay Gardens will run continuously throughout the day.

Additional Transportation: Buses depart from CK Steele Plaza in Tallahassee to Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park at 9:00 am and 10:00 am. Buses return to CK Steele Plaza at 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm


Big Bend Transit logosponsors transportation to Alfred B. Maclay Gardens and transportation to activities within the park.
