Bliss Wilson currently serves as the Florida Disabled Outdoors Association board secretary. Bliss graduated in 2019 from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology. Since becoming a part of the team in 2015, Bliss has provided crucial support with all FDOA programs and devoted her time as a volunteer for Miracle Sports and SportsAbility.

Inclusion means...

"To me, inclusion is when each person feels welcomed and accepted."

After participating in Youth Leadership Tallahassee in 2015, Bliss’s journey with FDOA began as she was placed on the board. Having volunteered with organizations that served people with disabilities, Bliss felt that “the FDOA board was the perfect fit” for her and her interests. She started as a junior board member, and has worked her way up to becoming secretary. Also, Bliss began volunteering at multiple events organized by FDOA and found joy in providing sports opportunities for all.

Besides FDOA, Bliss has been working on achieving her goals and following her passions to get where she wants to be. Bliss is currently applying to medical schools while working as a caregiver/personal support provider for a young adult with disabilities. For her, the idea of a perfect world is “one in which people are kind to each other”, and that is why she tries to exemplify that in her daily life and share it with others.

In her free time, Bliss would most likely be found hanging out with her friends, her fiancé, and her dogs (Costco & Duke); while -trying out new restaurants and delicious recipes. She loves being outside and going to concerts to watch artists perform live, especially her favorite Jack Johnson. Bliss cannot wait to have the opportunity to get to do those things again, including making a trip to Italy (her top bucket list destination).

Moreover, Bliss feels that after everything that 2020 brought, kindness and inclusion are needed in the world. For her, inclusion means that “each person feels welcomed and accepted”, which is why she is proud to be part of FDOA. Bliss considers the organization to be “the epitome of inclusion where people of all abilities are embraced with open arms." Last, if Bliss could share a message with the world, she would encourage everyone to “make the most of every day and appreciate the little things life has to offer." FDOA is lucky to have a kind and caring person like Bliss on the team, and we are thankful for everything she does for our organization.
